A much needed website for the kitchen

Today my friends was not a good day. Life has taken over a bit the past few days and has put me in a funk. So what does any self respecting lady do to make herself feel better? We clean … and organize … and eat carbs! I was looking in my refrigerator for any signs of life. I have this habit of calling my mother to inquire about the shelf life of products. And then finally I stumbled upon this site and thought I would share it with all of you. This is one site I will be bookmarking! […]

On a mission for the freshest food possible!

The older I get … the weirder I get with food. Over the past week or so, I have learned to make peanut butter, jam, pasta, mayonnaise, pizza sauce, yogurt cheese, and whole bunch of other stuff from scratch. I’ve officially become obsessed. I want to make everything from scratch! If I could have my own chickens … I would probably do that as well. But anyway … my latest homemade discovery came somewhat by accident. I had a watched a video on making Salt and Pepper shrimp from Ming Sai. In his recipe, he uses Szechuan pepper. So on […]

Happy Mardi Gras! Let there be KING CAKE!

I’ve been thinking about making this all week … the King Cake for Mardi Gras. I have no idea why … Just wanted to make one and say I did it. The King Cake is a traditional New Orleans cake … kinda like a glorified cinnamon roll. Sometimes other fillings are used like apple or pecans. A little baby Jesus is inserted in the cake. Whoever gets that piece is King for the day! And it supposed to hold the next King Cake party. This is what Wikipedia says: A king cake (sometimes rendered as kingcake, kings’ cake, king’s cake, […]

The Culinary Challange …

Baking is therapy. This has been a stressful couple of weeks. Trying to balance the businesses, life, and myself is somewhat challenging at times. As always when there are highs … and the lows come to match them. I kinda keep to myself lately … I think it may be a “nesting” thing. I’m in love with my life right now and being home and enjoying quality time with my kitchen has become one of my favorite things to do. Here is a little back story … Growing up my dad had a restaurant. So food was a big part […]

McDonald’s 4 Year Old Cheeseburger

People always ask me why I cook so much or how I have the time to do it … I always answer the question the same way … because to me its worth it. Here is a video I found that can explain I think better than I can: *Disclaimer … I will now and again eat fast food cause it is cheap and quick. But this video I think has ended that forever for me … well maybe not chic-fil-a … don’t know yet.

Adult Fun with Jell-O Shots

I came across this article today and thought I would share it with all of you cause its cool … Found on DivineCaroline.com I’ve been making Jell-O shots for years. They are easy to make, deliver the right buzz, and don’t give you that bloated feeling. So after years of dixie cups and seeing all the new innovative “delivery systems”—heck one is even called suck and blow—I thought I’d look for a more adult solution and integrate them back into my party life. Granted this means I’m now old enough to entertain versus bang a few back and run for […]
