I am completely pro-choice and very pro-Planned Parenthood. I believe that Americans should be allowed to bear arms but be licensed and educated on firearms. I think too many people are being killed unnecessarily. I think college should be free and/or affordable. I don’t believe we need a wall but a better screening process could be beneficial. I love having people from all cultures and backgrounds in the US. I believe that the environment needs more help than the economy. I also believe that finding alternative energy sources could help fix the economy and provide jobs. Marijuana should be legal, […]
A love letter to my College Friends. My introduction to college life did not go smoothly. I had a scholarship and a real taste of freedom. Unfortunately, they don’t always go together. Writing this blog was the hardest one for me. I loved so much about college yet have so few true memories from those days. However, I do know the people I met shaped me, inspired me, educated me, and I will love them forever.
Wheels Down. I landed back in Philly on Monday, July 4, 2016. The significance of it being Independence Day is not lost on me. June was finally over and I was feeling refreshed. It was time to claim my Independence from the things that have been weighing me down. It was time to accept my new reality. I was transitioning careers and experiencing a new decade in a new life. When I first landed in Philly, I felt like there was a cloud above me, perhaps it would be better to say a weight. I wasn’t ready to slip back […]
PDX TO LAX. My flight from Portland to LAX in route to Laguna Beach was so short that I barely remember it. I was so tired that I have zero recollection of take off. I think I slept the whole way … maybe. I’m not sure. I do remember landing and then walking into the airport thinking it was a shit show. LAX is just so big and I had no idea where to tell Tanya to pick me up at arrivals. Tanya and I met through our mutual friend Amy. It was probably 9th or 10th grade when we first really […]
PORTLAND I LOVE YOU. Dave and I met when we were 14 years old. We completely disagree about what he was wearing the first time we spoke in 10th grade. I swear it was blue pants and a Hawaiian shirt. It was 1991’ish so it would make sense based on fashion trends of that time, but he claims he didn’t own blue pants. I’ve let it go though – kinda. These days we disagree about other memories. For example, the time he almost killed us driving to Ocean City, Maryland because his sandal got caught on the brake pedal. (That happened and there were witnesses […]
Happy freaking birthday. June of 2016 was one of the best and worst months I’ve had in quite some time. The month started with me leaving the job I held for the past five years which was closely followed by a big birthday of an age in which we will not speak of and then a small injury on my hand. Now I know that these 3 actions are clearly just first world problems but as they occurred simultaneously, it felt like being punched in the gut. I tried to smile through it all and pretend like it was the best thing that could have happened […]
